Advice to my Younger Self

A question often asked when people are recounting their lives is:

‘What advice would you give to your younger self just starting out on the life’s journey?’

Here’s what I would suggest to my younger self.

‘You are here to enjoy your life and all that you do while alive. It’s to know that there is a purpose to being here on the earth, but for a long time such a concern is likely to be unimportant while you are gathering experience in the world. Don’t be in too much of a hurry to do something before its time. The world is not going to disappear and it’s always best to let things unfold in a way that doesn’t upset the balance of life.

It’s to know that there is no failure and if you feel you’ve let yourself or others down, there will always be an opportunity to do better next time. The whole living process is as much about learning what you don’t want as much as what you do want. This tends to happen naturally, just as you discard toys growing up which no longer give you pleasure as before.

It’s important to understand that there’s a price to be paid for everything in existence. People may appear to get away with things, but there is a fundamental justice which ensures that everyone is ultimately accountable for their actions – for better or for worse.

Don’t be quick to judge another or be critical of something that may offend you. See things as they are and not through the interpretation of any emotional feelings. Be open to life in all of its wonder and see that everyone and everything has a right to exist and to be what they are. Walk away from company where you feel threatened or uneasy. Be gracious in your actions, and if possible look to give rather than to receive.

Sooner or later you will have the opportunity to love somebody. It’s a great privilege to unite with another body in the flesh. Love is the greatest teacher and it’s through relationships that it’s possible to discover what it truly means to serve another being in the world. There is a power within the body which when made conscious and allowed to be creatively expressed brings harmony and beauty into the life. It’s this life force which is synonymous with the pure sexual energy that gives birth to all things. When the power is abused for personal satisfaction and control over others it degrades to a force of destructive intensity.

Be grateful to life for what you have. Through acknowledging what may be appear to be nothing, you will keep in touch with the invisible and far more profound aspect of your inner reality.

I shall be watching and guiding you in the days and years of your earthly existence. When it’s time and not before, I shall knock upon your door. You will know who I am in that sacred moment; for my name is I the beholder, the Lord of Existence.’
