This is the first of a series of articles on light in which I shall present my perceptions of the speed of light and the paradox of wave and particle light theory. I’ll be looking into the source of light and its effects on human behaviour, particularly in the area of love.
The significance of light and its mystical effect on our perceived reality has intrigued, transfixed and beguiled the most gifted scholars, artists and philosophers for millennia. Light is synonymous with the good or most sublime qualities that animate the forms of life on the planet. Light is the golden emanation of beauty that glows in the flesh in the state of love. It is the point of reality at the end of the tunnel of death that heralds a new beginning and the end of the old. Light is consciousness, the divine creative principle manifesting as terrestrial intelligence through flesh and matter in existence.
The sun is the sustaining light and power of existence without which there would be no life on earth. It is the means in which we measure the days and years of our lives. Rising every morning and setting every night, the sun symbolises the eternal precision of cosmic intelligence in space and time. And yet its being there signifies something even deeper and more profound to anyone open to the mystery of life. The worship of the sun by the people of the Inca and Aztec civilisations was the cultural acknowledgment of the one reality behind the appearance of the formal world. The sun symbolises the light or power of god in existence. How could it be otherwise? “As it is without, so it is within”, as the old saying goes. So what is the reality of the inner sun?
As the external sun radiates a spectrum of light through the medium of space and matter, so the inner sun radiates a psycho/spiritual spectrum of light through the medium of the psyche and the human subconscious. When white light shines through a prism it creates the familiar seven colours of the visible spectrum, as seen in a rainbow. This dispersion of colour or light frequencies blends and saturates photons or light particles producing the contrast of colour and depth we perceive in the external world. This marvellous effect of the colour spectrum is a reproduction of an inner process that occurs within the psyche that supports the structure of the physical form. Science measures the frequency of light through an electromagnetic spectrum. This understanding is practically applied in, for example, x-rays and radiotherapy in the medical profession, and in the calculations of the distance of cosmic bodies in astrophysics. But so far, although able to discern light particles beyond the visible range, science has avoided the exploration of the inner psychic spectrum that enables life to be experienced as sentient beings in the world.
The human brain is an instrument attuned to the medium of light. This relates not only to sunlight but to an inner light that is the instigating power for the transmission of life on earth. The light refracts through the medium of the brain and immediately splits into two alternating bands of light frequency. The brain converts the wave of pure energetic life to oscillate or spin as particles of light, creating a dynamic tension of opposite polarities. This initial effect of light enters the part of the brain that governs the reproductive organs of the physical body. These are the male and female principles that are present as the originating impulse of life on earth. The brain is then compelled, as the primary focus of light, to replicate itself through the overwhelming desire for original unity through sexual union of man and woman on earth.
Science has discovered that the pairing of ‘X’ chromosomes determines the sex of the newborn. However the word ‘chroma’, meaning purity or intensity of colour, also relates to the reality behind the matter. At the moment of conception the abstract life potential (energetically present within the womb of life) is impressed upon the fertilised egg within the mother’s womb. The effect is similar to a lightening strike. The beam of light projected from the psychic being of the new life recurrence determines the gender in the following way. The angle (or angel) of light enters existence, either on a vertical trajectory for male or an obtuse line of entry for female. (This is etched on the palm of the hand, where vertical lines indicate boys and slanted lines for girls.) The masculine colour is red and the feminine colour is blue. The significance of these colours will become clearer as we proceed. The rebirth of the female yields to the presence of the fertilised egg by the passive means of being drawn into existence. It is only in close proximity to the new life form (the egg) does the instinctual desire for rebirth accelerate. The male principle asserts its presence as pure life force powered by a more urgent instinctual drive to live once more.
The primary colours consist of red, blue and yellow. So far we have seen blue and red tones as descriptive of the genders, but what of yellow? Blue and red when mixed together produce purple. This tone or colour is the primal blend that creates life and the formation of matter in existence. Yellow is the fragrance of the divine. But really it is a golden essence just as the red and blue tones in their purity are translucent and immaculate in their beauty. The inner sun, the radiant point of light within everybody, is the idea or spiritual principle behind the projected physical body. As the light differentiates entering the sensory awareness in the mind, the brain divides the light into seven bands of chromatic frequency. Although under autonomous control from the pressure of life to continually project the idea of existence through the senses, the psychic spectrum creates the moment to moment sensation of being alive through the intelligence of light.
The purpose of life is to harness the power of the light of the inner sun. The many spiritual practices are directed towards this means and the idea, once activated, is the trigger that is the death knoll for the personal self. This is everybody’s true destiny, since whatever is within the psyche must manifest externally in time. Each life recurrence is an endeavour to activate with a greater luminosity this light of lights, which is the authentic being within each man or woman. It is this light that attracts, inspires and then compels the truth seeker towards its mystery.
